Eclipse expedition panel at HSS/ESHS

Jesse Garrison and I organised a two part panel “Emerging from the Shadow: New Perspectives on Solar Eclipse Expedition” for the HSS/ESHS conference in Edinburgh. One of our goals was to demonstrate the breadth of methodological approaches being taken to the history of these expeditions, which I think our panellists did very well in exactly showing! I’m really excited about this group of people thinking hard about eclipse expeditions and hope we’ll have more chance to concretely lay out the new methodological steps being taken at some point soon. For now though, most of us will also be scattered across Spain for the August 12th eclipse, hoping for clear skies!
